hi doris,

welcome to the group.

you don't need to worry about your daughter in

law....she will be fine eating a vegetarian diet

during her preganancy as long as she eats healthfully.

if she eats a varied diet full of whole grains,

legumes, and vegetables she won't have to worry about

getting enough protein.

when i was pregnant with my son, i used a protein

powder called spiru-tein (found at health food

stores)to my diet. i would add the protein powder to

smoothies or shakes (my favorite was vanilla flavored

spiru-tein with apple juice and ice)and have them for

breakfast.

ginger and raspberry leaf are excellent for combating

morning sickness. traditional medicinals makes ginger

tea and a raspberry leaf tea esp. for preganant women.

both are extremely safe.

i hope this helps. if you need any further info are

need help finding these items, let me know...i'll be

happy to help. :)

we are glad to have you here.....

Susie,

Thanks for the info. When I did a Google search on spiru-tein, I

found a website offering samples and coupons. Very helpful!

I'm not as worried about her diet providing enough nutrition for her

and the baby as she is. From my own experience battling severe

anemia, I know she can get protein from non-meat sources. I just

can't remember all of them since my need for them was more than 30

yers ago now. lol And so much has changed and improved in that those

years. I really don't want her to change her diet unless she has no

other choice. I did buy her some protein bars, beans, and a new

protein water by Special K. Still looking for other alternatives. My

husband keeps saying what a great mother-in-law and grandma I'm being,

but I'm afraid she'll think it's interfering.
