Beans and rice are so cheap, Especially if you buy dry beans. Also the indirect cost of eating cheaply is astrnomical in terms of your health. Thanks for the breakdown of cost. My mom, says that is what her family(hers growing up) and ours, survived on much of the first years of my life, when money was very scarce. She and I are very thrifty and try to spend our money carefully and get the most good food, for our money. Eating Vegetarian is soooo much cheaper than a meat diet initially and then again in the long run, healthwise as you mentioned. When someone complains about the prices of some of the Morningstar Farms Products or Worthington, I think about a friend that eats meat and says that most of it is at least $6/pound or lots more. How can folks afford that?
