Guest guest
I just made this for dinner. It took 5 minutes, made 6 and cost around $4.00. Adding the extras like jalapeno peppers, vegan cheese, Boca crumbles, sour cream, etc, will add more to the cost. I keep the ingredients for these on hand. Bean and Cheese Burritos with Salsa 1, 16 ounce can vegetarian refried beans (.88 cents) 1 cup finely grated cheddar (or vegan) cheese (about .98 cents) 6 large flour tortillas (.80 cents) Salad in a bag (pennies. One small bag makes enough sandwich lettuce for a week.) half of a small jar or homemade salsa (about .75 cents) Optional: sliced black olives TVP or Boca crumbles banana peppers jalapeno or other peppers Heat flour tortillas. (stove top, microwave or oven, wrapped) Heat refried beans. Jazz up if wanted. Sprinkle cheese down one side of the tortilla. Top with a couple spoons of refried beans. Top with salsa and/or any extras you want. Roll. Eat over plate; these are messy. How I do them: Right burner: Beans in small saucepan. Left burner: Frying pan on medium. Cheese, salsa, lettuce, extras on back of stove. Heat tortilla, sprinkle cheese, beans, extras, roll, roll off onto plate. Wrap leftovers in plastic or waxed paper to reheat in microwave. To reheat in oven, wrap in aluminum foil. Freezes easily. Jeanne in GA Check out the all-new Mail beta - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster.
