Onion Casserole

 

3 T. butter

3 med. sweet onions, sliced

8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced

1 c. shredded Swiss cheese

1 c. ( 10 3/4 oz) cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

1 c. (5 oz) evaporated milk

2 tsp. soy sauce

6-8 slices French bread (1/2 in. thick)

6-8 thin slices Swiss cheese (about 4 oz)

 

In large skillet, melt butter over med. high heat. Saute onions & mushrooms

until tender. Place in 12 in. x 7 1/2 in. x 2 in. baking dish. Sprinkle

shredded

cheese on top. Combine soup, milk & soy sauce; pour over cheese. Top w/bread

& cheese slices. Cover & refrigerate 4 hrs. or overnight. Bake, loosely

covered, 375 for 30 min. Uncover & bake 15-20 min. longer or until heated

through.

Let stand 5 min. before serving. 6-8 servings
