Just curious--what was wrong with the beans?

I bought a case of goya black beans and they had a mass of the bean sludge

on the top of each can.. normally, I always get some bean sludge in a can of

beans, but this was like an inch of thick gunk, and it just seemed " off " to

me.

Colcannon is an Irish dish. Me " granmather " made it all the time and I do

too. I also make a version of it she made for us kids. In the pan is cabbage,

shredded and cooked already, salt, pepper, butter, caraway seeds and fry until

tender. Best served the same day. Boxty is even better. It is a potato

pancake but better. =)
