Guest guest
Welcome back Jeanne. You've been missed. I was wondering. Last time we heard from you, you said a bad storm was coming up and wa-la, no more is heard from you. I was worried if you were ok. Sounds like you've really been thru the wringer with bad doctors misdiagnosing a very serious condition. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Wow, UPS droped your computer?????? I bet you did have heart failure and what an expensive repair that must have been. You are so lucky they were able to save your data. wHAT A great friend you have that helped you out with rebuilding it. I feel your pain, because I love to play backgammon and spades on MSN Gaming zone before bed at night. So fun and relaxing. welcome back. Judy - treazure nunya noname Tuesday, October 17, 2006 4:09 PM I'm back: OT Here's the short version. Computer mobo (motherboard) fried due to a huge lightning strike that killed both computers, a television, two monitors and exploded an external modem. (Yes, I did have surge protectors on both machines, but this was a direct hit.) Not long after that, I couldn't breathe so I went to doc and was given an inhaler. Since I still could not breathe, went to ER, diagnosed as " hyperventilation " and told to use the inhaler every 2 hours. (This despite no wheezing and no history of asthma, but having a history of heart failure); later (6 weeks-took me 4 weeks to get an appointment to see my doctor) the problem was found to be a blood clot in the lung and some other piddly heart silliness. I swear I am going to grow fur, get down on all fours and go to my vet the next time I need medical care. (We have a great vet.) Since I was not able to do the rebuild (not being able to breathe was a bit irritating), my computer went to a friend for the rebuild. UPS, now thought of as OOPS! brought my lovely new machine back and dumped it off the truck. Literally. Instant really expensive door stop. The remains went back to my friend who rebuilt it again and I am finally back online. (And gaming...hell for a computer gamer is not being able to game.) Thankfully the data on the hard drives was not lost, though a lot of the other hardware was toast. Anyway, I'm back, sort of. Missed you guys.Jeanne in Georgia PS: what's this silliness about no green leafy veggies while on blood thinners? Shoot me now and get it over with. Guest guest
Hi Judy, thank you! Yup, the OOPS driver who delivers out here is a woman (not being sexist, honestly, but if ya cannot pick up a 57 pound computer and not just push it off the truck, you shouldn't have the job!) Usually when I know I have a tech delivery I am standing outside ready to take the delivery into my waiting hands, but right then I couldn't make it to the living room, much less the driveway. Ready for this? Cracked (new) motherboard, displaced (new) processor chip and fan, trashed video card (also new) and bent the new case way out of whack. High end stuff too, not a fifteen dollar vid card, etc. To add insult to the really expensive injury, it was packaged by the OOPS store. Argh! Couldn't cook for the three weeks I spent laying on my right side so I could breathe so I lived on applesauce, dry granola and string cheese and had dreams of hot veggies and lentil soup. So glad to be back! Jeanne in Georgia Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail.
