Guest guest
My Aunt spent 40 years in several mental institutions, she was medicated and she needed to be. She was very dangerous to herself and others at times if she didn't take her meds. I always felt they needed to work with her nutrition, since she had violent episodes they would let her eat what she wanted, Cokes, bologna, ice cream, chocolate, candy all day and smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day. The caffeine and nicotine I believed worked against her meds. I asked her docs about this many times, they said, Oh it's patients rights and if this food keeps her off everyones back we let her eat what she wants. I've alwats felt she probably needed half the meds they gave her and a decent diet and she would have been in control better but she did need medication. Guest guest
You are so right, Donna. Her symptoms would have been far less damaging had they monitored her intake of bad foods, more so the high doses of caffeine and nicotine. The removal of caffeine made a significant change in my mother, but over the years and as her illness progressed, nothing helped short of medications, but she refused to take them. I use diet and exercise today in hopes to ward off the illness before it becomes one, since its rampant in my family. I am hoping that is the key. : ) So far, so good. 34 and the glass is always half full! ; ) Kerri

Guest guest
That's right. I have had migraines since age 13 and there are times I have to opt for an Imetrix as harsh a medication as it is. I have them under control so it's not often I need to take a pill. Soemetimes things are out of our control even though we eat a healthy diet and exercise.
