Vegan cake recipes?

I am looking for good vegan cake and frosting recipes to make for my

partner's birthday...something that will work out well as a layer

cake. She says she wants vanilla with chocolate frosting, but " if a

good chocolate recipe comes along, I won't be opposed... " I have very

little experience with vegan desserts, so I have no clue how to tell

what is a good recipe, so I'm looking for some that others have tried

and enjoyed. thanks!

There is a very good one, which I am having trouble finding in my files at

the moment-- it may be still on my old computer...ugh, yeah, I need to work

on getting that cleaned up and transferred.

 

But it is called " Wacky cake " and uses baking soda and vinegar to make it

rise. It is chocolate; but maybe you can omit the cocoa?

Only mine didn't mention 3 holes....it just adds the vinegar last.

 

As for icing, I use Earth Balance and powdered sugar, to make a " butter

cream " frosting. I'm sorry I can't give you measurements; as I just kind of

'wing it'.
