As a child I would stand and watch my Grandmother and that's about all I remember of it. All you need are some Mason jars, lids and bands. A pot tall enough to cover the jars while they cook. A good stock pot will do it if you are using pint jars. I got both my canning pots at resale shops. Tomatoes need to be blanched and peeled, some people like to put them through a mill. I don't have one, so I don't do that. Peaches need to be peeled too. My corn relish recipe, courtesy of DH's grandma, is easy too. Just doesn't travel well, ask Donna! If there is anything about anything specific you want to can I'd be happy to look up the cooking times, different things need longer than others. My canning book I got at a library sale of books. It is about as old as my mom, but it has good info. Another fun thing to do is make freezer jam while fruit it still in season. The pectin package (the name escapes me) has recipes in it. Sure-jell, that's it! AmyF
