Russian Tea Cakes

 

Ingredients

1 cup butter

1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp. vanilla

3/4 cup finely chopped nuts

 

Cream shortening; add sugar; cream again. Add salt and flour to creamed

mixture. Work in well with hands.

 

Blend in vanilla and nuts. chill for an hour or so, then form into

1-inch balls.

 

Place about 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350º

for 10 to 12 minutes.  These do not spread and should not brown.

 

While warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Let cool and roll again.
