Guest guest
Apple Praline Pie Pastry to make one double pie crust 5 1/2 cups granny apples 1/3 cup light brown sugar 1 Tbsp. cornstarch 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg Praline mixture: 1/3 cup light brown sugar 2 Tbsp. butter (no margarine) 1/3 cup ground pecans Mix together and set aside. Mix apples together with sugar, cornstarch and seasoning. Prebake pie crust for 8 min. - this prevents a soggy crust. Place half the apple mixture into the pie crust, add 1/2 praline mixture. Top this with rest of apples and then the rest of the praline mixture. Cover with top crust. Brush top crust with a mixture of 1 egg yolk and 1 Tbsp. of water, you may not need all the mixture, this will create a lovely brown crust. Bake in a pre-heated oven, 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
