Guest guest
Rose Petal Cookies 1/4 pound (1 stick) butter (room temp) 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted 1 cup unbleached white flour 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 tbls. rose water (get from middle eastern store) 2 tbls. fresh organic rose petals, finely chopped (use pink or white) Cream the butter and sugar thoroughly.Mix together and stir in the flours and salt, then stir in rose water and petals to make a smooth dough. Roll dough into a log about 2 inches wide, wrap in waxed paper and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Slice rounds 1/4-inch thick, place in lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees until pale golden at the edges (cookies will not brown), about 11 to 15 minutes. Cool on a rack and store in a tightly sealed container. *Note- I always prefer pink and white rose petals. They have the best flavor. If your oven tends to bake high then bake these on 300 degrees. Makes about 36 cookies. Get on board. You're invited to try the new Mail Beta.
