I just noticed this and wondered what it tasted like? Interesting combo of

ingredients.

Tomato Spice Cake

 

 

Tomato Spice Cake

 

1 pkg. (2-layer) spice cake mix

1 can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed tomato soup

1/2 c. water

2 eggs

1 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

 

Mix only above ingredients; following directions on package. If desired

fold in cup chopped nuts or walnuts. Bake as directed. Frost with

cream cheese frosting or other favorite white frosting.

I've had something like this before.

It tastes just like a spice cake, but

a bit richer and more moist. Very good.

Kind of like how you don't taste the mayo

in those chocolate mayonnaise cakes.

 

I got a recipe once from a little children's book

called Thunder Cake, which was a chocolate

cake that was made richer and more delicious

with the addition of tomatoes. It was a cute

Russian story of a Grandmother who got her

granddaughter's mind off her fear of the thunder-

storm by keeping her busy helping her bake

the delicious cake. I'll have to dig that recipe out

if I can find it. :)
