Guest guest
Time for the group questions of the week [qotw]. These are for July 23rd - 29th. 1. Are there any food-themed festivals in your region of the world or near where you live? [examples: Strawberry Festival, or Garlic Festival, etc.] 2. Have you attended any food-themed festivals before? If so, tell us about them.
Guest guest
National Grits Festival, Warwick, Georgia Georgia Sweet Potato Festival, Ocilla, Georgia Pecan Festival, Sylvester, Georgia Peach Festival (everywhere in Georgia) Peanut Festival (ditto) Annual Corn and Cane Grinding, Twin City (really neat, but go to the Agrirama or Westville and can see almost daily) I know there are more, just can't think of any. The Grits Festival is a lot of fun, if you like corny....... oh I didn't print that, lol. We live in the middle of pecan, peach and pecan country. We usually make the grits, pecan, peanut and peach festivals and the yearly as well as the Sunbelt Expo. (huge agribusiness show). Agribusiness is BIG business. Not food, but we even have a fire ant festival to honor that most horrid insect. Jeanne in Georgia How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Out here in southern Oregon they have a pear blossom parade and festival; pears are a pretty big crop. I haven't heard of any others real close by. > 2. They also combined it with some Civil War Reinactors, so if you got bored watching the syrup stuff you could watch them. ~ PT ~ I went to the hill and I got it. I sat on a knoll and I sought it. And if I would get it I would leave it. Since I did not get it, I took it with me. ~ Scots Gaelic riddle
Guest guest
In my state of West Virginia, we have several themed festivals and county fairs. Maple sugar starts in March in a small Swiss village, Pickens, WV (cheese comes later in July after it has aged 3-4 ,months..no festival just visitors to the Hutte to buy cheese and eat German food). In May comes the Strawberry Festival with strawberry shortcake with homemade ice cream, 3 parades and crafts...lots of other festivals happen throughout the summer and fall..Stonewall Jackson Jubilee and Italian Heritage festival in nearby counties on Labor Day weekend...lots of foods and crafts. Guest guest
Mary Anne- Don't forget the Apple Festival in Wellsburg... the Italian festival in Wheeling may count since it is an excuse to drink beer and eat pizza. Where are you in WV? Whitney --- MaryAnne Crites <suzyq_26201 wrote: > In my state of West Virginia, we have several themed > festivals and county fairs. Guest guest
Those places are north of me about 2 1/2 hours. I am more centrally located in Buckhannon, WV, 35 miles south of Clarksburg's Italian Heritage festival (wine, pasta and pizza)...back in the day one could buy wine from the different street tents, but no more. We also have wine tasting events...little do people know that some wines are also produced and made in West Virginia. Where are you Whitney?
