Guest guest
Um, well, again, uh, hi. Just for some information filler here, my name is Samantha (or just Sam) though I may frequently post as Pumott. I've been weaning myself into a meatless diet for about 7 months now, and no, it was not a new years resolution, it was more 1/2-way between being for religous reasons(Anyone read Theri There?), and had a few days of meat that didn't taste right to me, and I didn't feel all that great afterwards, so I was kinda scared of meat for awhile, and during that two weeks I felt great! until I started eating meat again. So, that's why I'm doing all this. Other info?: um, I'm 18.75hh, with a scrawny, nah, skinny, no-no, ah, willowy build. I still eat eggs and dairy(sorry.), I have an incurable sweet tooth(I think the song 'Junk Food Junkie was written about me. ;?P ) , I prefer the taste of natural to artificial or preservative laden (And I can't stand the taste of all those sugar substitutes out there!), and try to buy organic whenever I can afford it. Right now my favorite dish is this wild field thats away from roads and hasn't been sprayed. Apples, Mulberries, prairie Sage... (awareness of plants to avoid is a must of course.) It's amazing the different taste variations there are from leaf to leaf even on the same plant! I never got that with meat! My least favorite is Tofu and Tofu- by-products (Veggie dogs, chicken etc.). The stuff hates me and battles it out with my intestines for hours and hours on end. Haven't tried the Soy milk or the Ice cream, I'm afraid to. Though, I have had absolutely no problem with soy nuts or Edamame(which is why I thought that tofu et. al. would pose no problem. is there something in the proccess they add or take away that changes it? _______________ Don’t just search. Guest guest
Welcome Samantha, I switched a good bit of my dairy to raw and fermented dairy like yogurt and home made buttermilk. I recently got a good juicer which will do wonders I think. I won't eat tofu because it makes me so sick but things like Franklin Farms mushroom burger are very good, at least it is nice to my tummy. I am always trying new foods, its fun. Donna On 13 Jul 2006, at 12:44 pm, Samantha Coydra wrote: Um, well, again, uh, hi. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Samantha. Great to have you join us. You will find many recipes to help you along your vegetarian path here. We put all the tried and true posted recipes into our files section. No need to apologise for still eating some dairy and eggs here. They are still considered vegetarian. I don't know why tofu upsets your digestion, but I have heard it does that to some people. The good news is there are still so many other wonderful vegetarian foods to eat in order to get the nutrients your body needs. If you have any questions about the group, or anythng else regarding vegetarianism, please feel free to ask us. ~ PT ~ That is the happiest conversation where there is no competition, no vanity, but a calm, quiet interchange of sentiments. ~ Samuel Johnson ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Samantha Coydra " <Pumott_Ube wrote: > > > Um, well, again, uh, hi. > Just for some information filler here, my name is Samantha (or just Sam) > though I may frequently post as Pumott. > Other info?: um, I'm 18.75hh, with a scrawny, nah, skinny, no-no, ah, > willowy build. > I still eat eggs and dairy(sorry.), > My least favorite is Tofu and Tofu- by-products (Veggie dogs, chicken etc.). > The stuff hates me and battles it out with my intestines for hours and hours > on end. is there something in the > proccess they add or take away that changes it? >
