Guest guest
Hmm... I love hominy but am now wondering if I want to eat something that has been treated with lye. Is there a danger from that treatment? Diana (from the deep south - Maryland LOL!)
Guest guest
I am a hominy newbie, but hominy has been around for a long time... it is what grits are made of, and I never heard of anyone in the south getting sick from grits because of the making process of hominy. I wouldn't dare try taking grits away from a southerner! *lol* Thems fightin' words. I was initially concerned when I learned about how hominy was made, too [ew lye? really " egads!]. However, I understand it is not dangerous at all to eat hominy. It is rinsed very well, and then of course you are supposed to rinse them again when you open a can if you buy it like that. ~ PT ~ Anything that happens enough times to irritate you will happen at least once more. ~ Tom Parkin's Continuum ~~~*~~~*~~~> , diana scott <dianascot_33 wrote: > > Hmm...
