I had no idea it was southern, I know grits are but I didn't think hominy was. I know it's used heavily in many Mexican recipes. I made my own posole and it you can find dried hominy there is a huge difference in taste if you make your own. All I know is I saw it all over in AL... :-) In FL and SC, it was just in the regular aisle of canned foods, not with the Mexican foods, but I haven't looked for it here yet.
