Adventures with hominy Making posole from scratch

In my area of LA it's only found in the Mexican food section by the

enchilada sauce. I had no idea it was southern, I know grits are but I

didn't think hominy was. I know it's used heavily in many Mexican

recipes. I made my own posole and it you can find dried hominy there

is a huge difference in taste if you make your own.

Perhpas the south got it from the Mexicans? All I know is I saw it

all over in AL... :-) In FL and SC, it was just in the regular aisle

of canned foods, not with the Mexican foods, but I haven't looked for

it here yet. Now I'm gonna have to get some, as it's been a while...
