Guest guest
Just popping in here and it looks like it will be a gorgeous day outside again, so i am planning to enjoy it. i have a few veggie burger recipes i have been wanting to try so a BBQ picnic is definitely in order, in my own backyard since the gas prices are keeping me home as much as possible. Those gas prices sure do vex me, so when i get annoyed or frustrated i like to pause and think os things i am thankful for instead.... maybe read a poem, too. Just thought i'd share my morning musings with you all. i am thankful for: ~ the trees that are leafing out ~ the birds that are entertaining me ~ the warm sun and cool breeze ~ my sunny kitchen and lovely patio ~ my health and that i can walk, dance and still run What are you all thankful for? Here's a great poem i read today by one of my favorite Whidbey Island poets: WATCHING by Victory Lee Schouten I watch people all the time, thinking, that's how you are. That's how you are when you trust your body. ÊThat's how you move when you can stand on one leg, and jump fearlessly ashore. I don't move that way, but I like to see it. And that's how you look when you're scared all the time, knowing you're doing it wrong. That's how you pause, when you're judging each word, knowing you won't say it right. I know those fears too. And there's how you walk when a good man is yours. Yours, no kidding around. That's how you stand when you can barely believe your good luck. That's how you smile when you're happy. I am grateful to know that face. And that's how you laugh when you've been badly hurt, when your sorrow makes weights of your bones. That's how you laugh when you don't believe anymore. That's how you laugh when you¹re broken. That false, fragile laugh. Chimes near a grave. And thatss how your eyes slowly close when you know that it's all just a gift. That's how you smile when you're grateful to be knee-deep in the whole wonderful mess. It's how you smile when you mean it. © Victory Lee Schouten, From Wolf Love 2000 By Great Path Publishing Hope you enjoy a great day. ::: coffee mug salute ::: ~ pt ~ Barn's burnt down . . . now i can see the moon. ~Masahide
Guest guest
Here I am sitting here feeling miserable because I have a BAD cold and it's HOT already (90 today) and I'm really tired but my kids are not going to let me nap, and then I read your beautiful poem. Thanks, PT, for reminding me to think of all I have to be thankful for! ....for the second year in a row, the little birdies have chosen the ceramic birdhouse on our porch to raise their babies in!! I love those little fluffy things! Guest guest
Good Evening, PT! What a neat post to read! We had a gorgeous day also! This is my favorite time of year because it is so full of new life and so easy to venture out without being too uncomfortable in either extreme of temp. Sometimes we even get a lot of rain! Got a lot of things I'm grateful for, but just want to note here that one of those things is that I'm on a list with a poetry and literature lover who posts such interesting and eclectic samplings. It's a treat every day to see what you have chosen to place at the end of your messages. You are appreciated!
