Estimates are that a personal phone call has 1000 times the impact of a petition and 10 times a personal letter. Please call and help us stop the killing! If this passes in California, other states will follow. Call at night when you have free cell phone calls and leave a message!

You may have heard about Senate Bill 250, also known as the Pet Responsibility Act. If the bill becomes law, SB 250 would prohibit any person from owning or possessing any unaltered cat or dog unless that person obtains an unaltered-dog permit or keeps unaltered cats strictly indoors. In California, it is estimated that nearly a half million dogs and cats must be euthanized for lack of good homes annually! Animal control and sheltering operations cost California taxpayers approximately $250 million every year. This legislation would make California a safer place for all and save countless animals' lives.

SB 250 is to be voted on in the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, July 15, in room 4202 at 9 am. Please help this lifesaving bill pass the Assembly Appropriations Committee and get one step closer to becoming law by making a quick phone call to each of the California assemblymembers on the committee. Politely urge them to vote "Yes" on SB 250. Click here to find names and contact information for the assemblymembers. If any of the members of the committee represent your assembly district (see http://www.assembly.ca.gov/acs/acsframeset9.htm), be sure to mention your name and address and note that you are a constituent!

All phone calls must be submitted for consideration before the July 15 vote.

Also, kindly forward this message to others in California who might be willing to lend their voices to this important issue. Your call will mean the world to cats and dogs in need.

Thank you for your compassion and immediate action for animals.

Sincerely,

Kristin DeJournett
