Last Chance for Animals (LCA) is calling on animal rescue groups to help rescue the remaining dogs in Mojave, CA. If you aren't familiar with the Bemis dogs:

s Report

LCA is at the property everyday--feeding, caring, and trapping dogs. Approximately 200 dogs, and 25 cats have been taken off the property in the last month. However, locals continue to dump unwanted animals on the property and outside the property, ignoring LCA's sign!

The remaining dogs are frightened, unsocialized, and quite adept at hiding. LCA is spending hours in the hot sun, trying to trap these dogs with food.

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation has generously offered to donate to rescue groups $200 for every20dog rescued. Animal Alliance will donate an additional $100 if a senior dog is rescued!

LCA thanks The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation and Animal Alliance for their generosity!

Cindy Bemis and Cynthia Trapani, the two women convicted of hoarding all these neglected animals, are due to be sentenced on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. They are currently in jail, being held without bail. Please help LCA rescue the remaining animals before these women are sentenced; it is possible that the local animal control authorities will seize the remaining animals and dump them at the already overcrowded Bakersfield animal shelter.
