Many Donors Giving Smaller Charitable Contributions to Fewer Organizations

The Harris Poll examined the behaviors and attitudes of people who give money or time to charitable organizations or advocate for them, and how their behavior has changed as a result of the economy. Almost half (45%) of these people report that their giving and their volunteering have not changed, but many people are giving to fewer organizations (24%) or giving smaller amounts (31%). New Zealanders Oppose Plans to Resume Live Sheep Trade

The New Zealand government has disclosed that it is close to reaching an agreement with Saudi Arabia to resume the export of live sheep for slaughter. This announcement comes despite survey results showing that only 26% of New Zealanders support resuming the country's live sheep trade.

Very Large Majorities of Americans Believe Big Companies, PACs, Political Lobbyists and the News Media Have Too Much Power...

Large majorities (over 80%) of those in the U.S. believe that big companies, political action committees, political lobbyists, and the news media have too much political influence. A much smaller proportion (19%) believe that nonprofit organizations have too much power, while 71% believe they have too little political power in Washington.

Animal Tracker Finds Increase in Awareness, Discussion of Animal Issues

HRC recently made available results from the second wave of our A

nimal Tracker survey of animal-related attitudes and behavior. The goal of the Animal Tracker is to measure changes in opinions and behavior over time and Wave 2 shows some interesting differences compared with Wave 1 (2008). One of the biggest changes was an increase in awareness and discussion of animal protection issues.
