How to Organize for the PRA Primate Rights Amendment To my knowledge, no one in the history of the AR Movement, has ever actually even tried to gain rights for any animals. Of course we have tried for bigger cages and no this and stop that, ban this and go that, but when will we actually demand some real rights for animals? I would like to share my vision of how we in the United States could possibly gain some rights for animals. The only sure way is through a constitutional amendment, by pressuring Congress we can succeed, we need the voters with us, its like a hostage negotiation, we need to demand that Congress give us something, which will hopefully lead to more concessions or we will replace them and get new Representatives, candidates who have at least a modicum of basic respect for animals. The least they can do is grant our nearest species exemption from torture. If they won't even do that, who needs them?

get rid of them, replace them with a Representative that shares a more civilized view, of an animals right to a decent life. Now we can't start out demanding rights for all animals, they would never go for that, at this time, too much for them to lose, but if we make it simple, we can show the people why they should at least free the monkeys, ask them what has primate research ever produced? Not some future pie in the sky cures. What have they actually cured? What do they hope to cure? you don't have be an expert in vivisection to challenge these claims they are basically common sense and much easier to defend than taking on all animal research. people can more easily get a handle on primate research. Force the vivisectionist to justify and explain exactly, how many and what kind of experiments they believe are so important to our lives and wether or not it's worth the price in primate suffering. They will be in trouble, because most research

is totally made up nonsense to bring grant money in for the Universities and the individual vivisector, or for the corporations as some kind of a legal protection for any lawsuits brought against them because of products dangers. The experiments that don't sound totally ridiculous on their face and may have some scientific logic, could then be rationally debated and believe me the scientifically minded anti-vivisectionist would demolish their faulty, illogical scientific methods. That is why they continually refuse to debate the issue in public. Most people naturally like primates, they look like human children, most people wouldn't like to see them get hurt. In an election it doesn't matter why the voters support the ending of primate experiments, as long as they do. Is any cure going to be justification for all the loneliness, loss of freedom, friends and family? We now fully realize that the primates have the same emotional makeup as their

older cousins. Torture is torture no matter the species, they have the same emotions as human children.Of course all the animals are sentient, feeling, and thinking beings. Shame on America for putting up with this Abomination upon the animals for so long. The home of the Free? What about granting them a little freedom? let's start with the monkeys and break those chains, We should become an example to the rest of the so-called civilized world. Why start with primates? Because I believe that primates are the weakest ink in the vivisectionists chain, if we can break that link, then the whole chain becomes compromised and its not such a big strong chain anymore, we can cut it down to size and shatter it someday. Once the primates attain their rights we will be that much closer to our goal, the liberation for all our brothers and sisters in the animal kingdom. The Movement needs enough activists to eventually cover all 435

Congressional districts, but for now one from as many districts as possible would be fantastic. Please consider being that one. You will be responsible to recruit other registered voters from your district and help them form the nucleus of a working group, your group could then lobby your congress person to co-sponsor the PRA . start recruiting more members, you could do outreach in your district, leafleting, petitioning, signature gathering, a letters to the editor campaign and encourage telephone calls, all directed at your Congressional Representative, to get them to co-sponsor the PRA. Your group could call yourselves the committee to pass the PRA for example, or APES or anything you want to call yourselves. All voting members of your group should be from the district that they are legally registered in, lthough you can have as many volunteers as you want but only district members should vote on your groups plans, this will hopefully

deter infiltration and takeover from the opposition, if you feel you got taken over, let us know and then start another group with out those people. Your group Could also help organize the other districts, in your state. We do not have the bill written yet, if anyone has expertise in congressional legalese, or a friendly Congress person let us know, and please let us know if you have any comments about anything. Help get the movement off the ground, for the animals sake. PS If anybody has a better plan please let me know.
