Dear paul,The devastation in the fire zone is hard to imagine: 200 people have perished, more than 1,800 homes have been destroyed, and at least 7,000 people are now without homes. Many animals have suffered as well - hundreds of thousands may have already died. And without our help many more face death from terrible burns, starvation, dehydration, or wounds suffered when fleeing the fires.The number of animals being brought to IFAW's rescue center is increasing dramatically day by day as survivors are rescued or emerge from the fire zone to search for food and water.We need your help today to save and care for these injured animals. can!IFAW has been able to bring aid to so many already - like the rescued joey found hiding in the scorched pouch of his dead mother - he's now safe and being hand-fed by IFAW volunteers...or the mother and baby koala suffering from burns, dehydration, and smoke inhalation - they were brought into an IFAW-funded rescue center and are now starting the long road to recovery alongside 30 other koalas. We're also providing the resources to treat rescued wallabies, wombats, possums, echidnas, and even a rare greater glider.So many animals have been helped, yet so many more remain waiting to be saved. survivors.Thanks to the generous support from our donors, IFAW's Emergency Relief team continues to work around the clock in the fire zone:

Searching for animals burnt or abandoned, and bringing them to safety. Providing food, water, and medical care to the pets and farm animals we come across during search and rescue operations. Caring for injured animals in the temporary Intensive Care Unit we've established next to a local football field. Funding and advising local groups that are also rescuing and caring for animals.

We're doing what we can, but we can't do it alone. We need your help - not only to save these animals, but to give the people in the fire-ravaged areas a sense of hope. Many local residents are bringing their pets and wild animals to us for treatment - desperate to see these innocent creatures survive. Seeing animals being helped gives a sense of hope and purpose to people who have lost so much in the fires. Our work is important to both the animals and those who care so much about them... together we want to save and care for as many as we can. So please help us do more to bring hope to animals and people in this devastated area.Please give whatever you can spare today.
