and friend of mine, Kim Stallwood (aka the Grumpy Vegan) recently gave a presentation at the Minding Animals Conference in London. His presentation was about "The Animal Rights Challenge," which Stallwood says "is to establish the moral and legal status of animals as a public policy issue." He provides a critique of traditional protest tactics and offers suggestions for organizations and individuals seeking to help the animal rights movement "advance its mission from obscurity to acceptance."

This report describes a behavioral experiment in a college cafeteria to assess the effects of various payment options and menu selection methods on food choices... College students who preselected their meals from a menu board made significantly different food choices than students who ordered their meals while viewing the foods in line. Gender Differences in the Perceptions of Wildlife Management Objectives and Priorities in Australasia

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of gender on perceptions and priorities held by Australasian wildlife managers. Consistent with previous research, men held different views from women about wildlife and wildlife management. In particular, men were significantly more likely to express the "management/consumptive use of wildlife" perspective than women.
