PETLAND is feeling the heat!

After the terrific January 10 demo, we had 40+ protesters at Petland on January 17. We had a lot of support from the public, and it seems clear the word is getting around about Petland and puppy mills.

I also had the following exchange with Christopher Beth, Petland’s Director of Regional Operations for the western region. His presence at the store likely means the franchise owner sent a call for help. Mr. Beth is using very bad amateur psychology, and it means we are getting to them – otherwise they wouldn’t acknowledge our protests:

Dr. Pippin,

I was at the Plano store last Saturday when you all were there. I just wanted to thank you for being there! We had so many people tell us that they did not see us located there and your people drew them into the store.

I was actually wondering if you could be there both days on the weekend and maybe Fridays?

Thanks again,

Christopher Beth of Regional Operations - Western US

Ha ha, that’s very good Mr. Beth. We see the traffic at your store every Saturday, so please stop with the amateur reverse psychology.

Let’s just see how this works out, shall we? We’re in this for the long haul.

Dr. Pippin,

Ha, ha? I wasn’t kidding. Unless you are watching the traffic all other times of the week you certainly could not quantify the results of your presence like my stores door counters record. Regardless, we sold two puppies while you were there. One Westie and one Beagle.

We are also in it for the long haul, Dr. Pippin. The last 41 years of us being in business has not been by fluke.

Best Regards,

Christopher Beth

OK, so here’s a guy who needs to eat his words. Are we up for it? Can we shove them down his throat?

Join us on Saturday to deliver the message loud and clear. To paraphrase Kurt Russell in Tombstone: “We’re coming, and hell’s coming with us.”

Let’s make it hell for Petland. We need everyone there.

What: Ongoing campaign to stop the Petland puppy mill machine

Where: Plano Petland at 340 Coit Rd (SE corner of Coit and Mapleshade)

When: 12 noon Saturday, January 24

Parking: (1) Sam’s Club parking lot at SW corner of Coit and Mapleshade

(2) Bank of Texas parking lot at NE corner of Coit and Mapleshade (Park in rear until 1PM; then entire parking lot is available)

Do not park in the shopping center parking lot where Petland is located, or anywhere along Mapleshade.

We have signs and leaflets, but it would be great to see more homemade signs.

Event day contacts: John Pippin (cell: 972-523-4404) and Susan Oakey (cell: 214-577-6727)
