BOYDTON, Va. (AP) -- Authorities say two hunters were killed after the boat they were in hit some debris in the Dan River in Mecklenberg County.

Officials identified the victims as 61-year-old Terrell J. Reid of Lynchburg and 60-year-old James R. Whorley of Forest. They said the men had gone duck hunting, and authorities believe it was still dark when the boat struck some partially submerged debris at about 5 a.m. Saturday.

The capsized boat was spotted about 10 a.m., and authorities found the bodies in the water. A hunting dog swam safely to shore.
