Not all areas of the country have high numbers of predatory animals-- we have far fewer Bear, Coyotes and NO Mountain Lions here in this area. If you want to protect all of the animals from being killed by vehicles or starving, then you had better find a feasible plan to help them here. The bad thing is that there isn't any other plan that can or will work. Right now, the Deer vs. vehicle collisions are up and they are also facing a very cold, food-less winter due to starvation caused by the drought's effect on their food. Fewer nuts (yes, Deer eat Acorns and other nuts), fewer grasses and other plants found in the woods because there was NO substantial amount of rainfall to ensure the needed growth. Now, ask yourself, would you rather see them hit by vehicles and left to suffer or starve to death slowly (and this is not a pleasant way to go either) or have them to die instantly at the hands of a skilled marksman? I know what I would chose if it were my life hanging in the balance here..... For God's sake, USE SOME COMMON SENSE! Without predators to control the populations of many species, there has to be something to ensure they survive and do not starve or suffer a horrible death such as laying by the road with broken legs for days on end.
