The quarry is located on land that is owned by the Bingamon Corporation. A representative from Bingamon Corp. told The Ada Herald that the land around the quarry is posted as "No Trespassing" and the corporation does not allow hunters on the property. The quarry itself is fenced off as well, for the safety of the cattle that are raised on the land. Rescue teams were called in to rescue Jones from the bottom of the quarry, where he had fallen into a pit of mud. The hunting party Jones was with, including his step-father Nathan Carson, originally tried to hoist him up the cliff face with a rope but were unsuccessful due to Jones growing exhausted with the effort. Rescue teams recovered Jones' body later in the afternoon. The accident remains under investigation.
