UPDATE: Man shot in jaw while hunting in Waterloo Township

Posted by Fredricka Paul | Citizen Patriot November 28, 2008 19:30PMA man who was hunting in Waterloo Township was hospitalized Friday after getting struck in the face by a round of bullets.The incident happened around 10:45 a.m. in the Waterloo Recreational Area. The 63-year-old Jackson resident was in serious condition Friday night at University of Michigan Hospital. His name has yet to be released.Michigan State Police First Lt. James Shaw said the man was able to come out of the woods and go to a residence for help after getting shot in the jaw area.He was first taken to Chelsea Hospital and then to UM, where underwent surgery.Although the shooting seems to be accidental, state police and the Department of Natural Resources are investigating, Shaw said. Police have not identified who fired the shot.Police are asking anyone with information to call the Michigan State Police at 780-4580.
