Guest guest
Wow. Suspended. Maybe these people need glasses. Or a definition of "intolerance" of abuse of animals. But hey, they're in the "protein" industry - you don't need brains, just an evil nature. I just love reading the comments from the people in this forum. They show their true colors very well. Like we didn't already know how evil they are! It's all PeTA's fault! PeTA staged it! PeTA didn't report it soon enough! Aviagen suspends supervisor after PETA video By Janie Gabbett on 11/21/2008 Global poultry breeder Aviagen Inc. said it has suspended a supervisor and would investigate a video released by an animal-rights group that appears to show turkeys being abused at subsidiary Aviagen Turkeys Inc.'s West Virginia farms. A person associated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals worked at the farm for more than two months in order to secretly shoot the video. "We condemn any abuse of the animals in our care and will take swift action to address these issues," the Associated Press quoted Aviagen Turkeys Inc. as stating after its representatives viewed the video. The company said it was investigating the actions and that workers shown in the video could be fired. The supervisor involved has been suspended pending the outcome. PETA filed a criminal complaint earlier this week alleging animal cruelty. In West Virginia, felony animal cruelty can be punished by one to three years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines, according to AP. I just hope the general public can see that. But, we all know common sence isn't that common! 11/21/2008 2:56 PM Posted By: dave [No Subject] Reply Let's not forget the PETA dumpster incident - Adria and Andrew had a little joy ride in the eastern part of NC - killing and dumping dead dogs in the dumpsters of area businesses - 11/21/2008 2:54 PM Posted By: sjt Re: [No Subject] Reply Originally posted by NHJail the person taking the videos. They are of course saying what they have to say and are supposed to say. They aren't going to say, "yes, we know of abuse and think it is fine". If these guys don't end up going to jail it will further confirm my thoughts that they are in fact staging the videos, and are protecting their own people and those who cooperated with them, keeping them out of jail. The supervisor in the video admits to knowing of the abuse and not doing anything about it. Notice how the supervisor is only "suspended" and the employees "could be fired". There should be no question here. Fire them and put them in jail. Then not only will there be less abusive people out and available to commit these crimes, but there will also be less Peta people going around and creating abuse that is not there. Also, if these employees know they will go to jail if they cooperate with peta to make a video for them, maybe they won't agree to help them. 11/21/2008 2:40 PM Posted By: smoker PETA Reply I still want to beat PETA with a two-by-four. 11/21/2008 2:38 PM Posted By: Dale [No Subject] Reply Jail the person taking the videos. I could not believe that at least a Mgr. or higher up was not aware of the workers abusive actions. At former slughter plant where I worked in Mgmt., couple times a day myself and other Mgrs would walk the floor talking to employees (including the staging areas) and one of us would have happened to stumble upon any kind of abuse that was taking place especially if it was over a 2 month period (which it didn't with my former employer)) 11/21/2008 2:36 PM Posted By: Modan [No Subject] Reply I'll stay out of this one.
