Guest guest
Dear Companion Pet Lovers ~ EXCELLENT investigative report from WI... Family pets auctioned like livestock. You wouldn't think that's how people buy dogs. But it's what the Fox 9 Investigators found just across the river in Western Wisconsin. The laws are so lax there that dogs are actually auctioned off like cattle. Rescue groups swarm these auctions to save the animals. But are they helping or, actually adding to the problem? Reporter Trish Van Pilsum gives us a look at the cold, hard reality of dog dealing. A HUGE thanks to Eilene Robbins of WI Puppy Mill Project (another strong supporter of our efforts to ban dog auctions in Ohio) for passing along this investigative report. (And yes, Eilene also includes a link to the list of dogs to be placed on the auction block with all of her group's protest announcements against the Thorp Dog Auctions!) Sun, August 17, 2008 11:59 am We are deeply saddened that there will be ANOTHER Dog Auction in T horp, Wisconsin (Clark County) on WEDNESDAY September 24, 2008 at Horst Stables. We will be there (again!) to PROTEST these despicable auctions! We will NOT stop our protests until the auctions stop. Puppy mills breed misery and the auction dogs are puppy mill dogs! PLEASE, if you can, take the day off work, make the drive, join us for the protest! Additional information on the specifics of the event will be posted by our friends at Clark County Humane Society. Please log onto their web site http://www.cchs-petshelter.org/ (scroll down to the Auction section of the Home Page). The latest on the organization for the protest will be posted there. Generally, plan to meet between 10:00 and 10:30 am in Thorp (location to be announced). The auction usually starts at Noon. PLEASE BE THERE...WE need you and the DOGS REALLY need you!
