by LaNia Coleman | The Saginaw News Tuesday November 18, 2008, 6:15 PMMIDLAND -- Midland County sheriff's deputies were investigating the shooting death of a hunter.Corey A. Welch died early Tuesday at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. The 33-year-old Indianapolis, Ind., man suffered a gunshot wound to the back about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, said Sheriff Jerry A. Nielsen.Welch was hunting deer from a blind in Warren Township near Coleman.Investigators believe a 26-year-old Coleman woman, who was hunting from a blind east of Welch's location, fired the shot that struck Welch, Nielsen said."She saw a deer and pulled up and shot at the deer," the sheriff said. "Seconds later, she heard yelling. She located the victim and rendered aid to him."Mid-Michigan had not had a hunting-related shooting death since 2006, when two hunters died of wounds that apparently were accidentally self-inflicted, Saginaw News records show.
