KANSAS CITY, MO. -- An Overland Park man is dead when his boat took on water and sank during a duck hunting trip near St. Joesph, Missouri, on Saturday. James Adams, 23, drowned

in Belcher Conservation Lake, about 45 minutes north of Kansas City. He and a friend were on the lake setting duck decoys when their boat took on water during windy conditions. Authorities said that the man's friend swam across the frigid lake and walked half of a mile to get help. Rescuers combed the murky waters for the man, but said that without life jackets in the frigid condition, the man had little chance of survival. Officials with the Missouri Department of Conservation said this is the fourth hunting accident in Northern Missouri in the past week. They said there were three accidental shootings in neighboring Livingstone County in a four-day period.
