Marriott Sponsoring Rodeo Again

As may recall, last year when a SHARK investigator documented horses being abusively shocked at the 2008 PRCA National Western Rodeo in Denver, CO. We took our evidence to Marriott Hotels, one of the rodeo's sponsors. A link to the rodeo website reveals the financial level of the sponsors, and Marriott was considered a "Major Sponsor" which means an amount of $50,000 - $100,000 was given to the rodeo by Marriott.

After reviewing the information, Marriott made the decision to not sully its reputation any further, and committed to stop sponsoring the rodeo.

SHARK was shocked and very disappointed to learn that Marriott has gone back on its commitment and is again sponsoring the 2009 National Western Rodeo in Denver, CO. Marriott was also a sponsor of Colorado's Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, California's Livermore Rodeo and Arizona's World's Oldest Rodeo. Marriott is also sponsoring the Miss Rodeo Colorado Pageant.

Marriott refuses to respond to our messages.
