The Lake County Sheriff's Department reported a Sunday morning hunting accident near Wentworth that left two men injured from shotgun pellets.

The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. Sunday when four males went duck hunting at the Wentworth slough. According to information taken from the hunters, the party split into two groups -- Omar El-Gayar and James J. Thompson, both of Madison, and Richard Avery of Madison and Jason Kassa of Brookings -- and took separate stations on each side of the slough. The report states that two ducks landed on the water and El-Gayar shot at the ducks after they landed. The hunters believe some shotgun pellets ricocheted off the water and hit Avery and Kassa.El-Gayar and Thompson transported the injured men to the Madison Community Hospital and the hospital contacted the sheriff's office.Deputy Nicole Cudmore filed

a report and turned the incident over to Conservation Officer Brandon Gust of the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Department.
