A pheasant got up,

and the boy shot at it. The barrel exploded, causing injuries to the boy's face and left hand, the sheriff's office said in a news release.The boy, identified as Tristin Manikowski of Geneseo, N.D., was treated and released at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minn.The accident, which was reported at 6:47 p.m., is under investigation by the sheriff's office and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead and the Herald are Forum Communications Co. newspapers.
