Guest guest
I watched the whole thing and it just left me outraged. They barely scratched the surface of the horrors these animals endure, and most of the airtime was given to farmers and the talking head spin doctor from the USDA (I think that's who she was, but so mad I don't remember for sure). They don't suffer??????? That's what the FF farmers say, and so did she. As comfortable as possible? WTF, if a dog or cat was treated that way it would be illegal! Right, according to Oprah and the farmers, of course, you either eat "humane" meat or FF meat. Why NOT mention vegan?? She really dropped the ball on this one. Those "family farms" would be lucky if they could supply a small town grocery, they never mentioned that those animals don't end up in supermarkets everybody goes to. Or that the labels are totally misleading. "Happy meat" will only increase suffering and increase volume. I won't say the word that is burning in my mind. I am so disgusted by the whole program - even Oprah was saying ' this is about economics' - for heavens sake they should all watch a slaughterhouse, never mind the 'organic free range' pig farm they showed. I feel so deflated and sickened. I was hopeful and sitting here weeping for the animals as they are treated like objects by selfish, selfish people who only care about devouring their flesh - that is all. I am an abolitionist but was hoping that by showing the public what goes on, on factory farms the suffering would be far more highlighted instead of people arguing back and forth about the economics. Sick, shameful and now probably all that will happen is more people buying organic dead animals. Mel OMG........IT WAS DISGUSTING.. ...And I didn't turn it on until 15 minutes before it was over & like Mel I was so outraged I couldn't watch for more then 5 minutes..... .like Mel said....THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO DISCUSSION ABOUT VEGANS....ACCORDING TO OPRAH.....THERE' S NO SUCH THING AS NOT EATING MEAT.......Well. ...what did we expect, that Rescue group from PA. had to spend $10,000. just to get her attention about the puppy mills......I really...REALLY hate her phony ass!!!!!
