Guest guest Posted October 15, 2008 Report Share Posted October 15, 2008 If anyone has any information on these heinous abuses, please contact Animal Care Services in San Antonio at Phone: (210) 207-4PETFax: (210) 207-6673 4710 State Highway 151San Antonio, TX 78227 A kitten with a severely burned tail underwent surgery to have itamputated Monday — several days after a mail carrier reportedwitnessing two neighborhood boys pinning the struggling feline.The incident appears to be part of a rash of unrelated animal abusecases over the past week and a half, according to the Animal DefenseLeague, which took the cat into custody this weekend and named her ElPaso.Recent incidents have included an Irish setter with a severely brokenleg, a golden retriever that had been stabbed multiple times andanother cat that appeared to have been burned with acid. Both canineslater died, according to the nonprofit shelter."Unfortunately, the abuse itself is not unusual," said shelterdirector Ron Aaron. "But this is more than we've seen in this periodof time. We don't know what to attribute it to. Some have said theworsening economy, but I don't know."Last week, the agency offered a $3,000 reward for information leadingto the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the suspected abusecases. Since then, an anonymous donor has contributed an additional$2,000 to the award pot.
