Guest guest
Unfortunately this is HORRIBLE for the deer and other innocent animals that will be shot with an arrow (how much more sadistic could these murderers be?), but it seems that every single day of any hunting season, at least one hunter a day gets shot, wounded or even killed. (Tear dropping down face). A/w weekend OKC hunting news: This coming Wednesday the archery deer season opens in Okla. If past statistics are true, more deer will be taken on Wednesday than other day of the season. Last year an estimated 74,000 bow hunters killed more than 11,000 deer a/w with the state Wildlife Dept. and almost 80% of those deer were taken before the start of deer gun season. Okla.'s deer season have reached a point where there really are no bad seasons. Even tho nos. were down last year from a record-breaking 2006 where 119,342 deer were harvested, last year hunters still tagged almost 96,000 deer statewide in spite of bad weather conditions before the hunt. Hunters are regularly taking more than 90,000 deer annually in Okla. There are also two other hunting seasons which open on Wednesday. There is the fall archery season for wild turkeys and the rabbit season. The dates for hunting wild turkeys with a bow also runs concurrent with the deer archery season. Rabbit season runs thru Mar 15th and there are three species of rabbits in the state. These include the cottontails, swamp and jack rabbits. Cottontails can be found statewide while swamp rabbits are primarily found in the marshes and sloughs of eastern Okla. Jack rabbits are most commonly found in the Okla. Panhandle Counties.
