Guest guest
South Africa gives Zambia 500 elephants [Please note these articles below are for your information but are not necessarily written by ourselves.] South Africa has donated at least 500 elephants to Zambia to help re-stock its elephant population extinct by years of poaching.Zambian tourism minister Michael Kaingu told reporters that the animals will soon arrive in the country. He said the government is making plans to arrange the transportation of elephants before they will be distributed to game parks and game management areas throughout the country. Two decades ago, Zambia boast of a sizeable elephant population, but uncontrolled poaching had almost made the specie extinct. Mr. Kaingu said the donation is part of the government's plans to re-stock the elephant population.Poachers have also severely reduced Zambia's rhinoceros population. A similar re-stocking programme is in place for rhinoceros in the landlocked Southern African country. http://www.nomadtours.co.za/southafricagiveszambia500elep.html
