Guest guest
I just read in the paper today about 4 wildcats that Fejervary Zoo is trying to move to a CARE (Center for Animal Research and Education) facility in Bridgeport, TX due to there being no proper curator to take care of the animals and lack of enough financial funds, etc. here in Davenport, Iowa. I don't really know enough about CARE to know whether or not that is a good place for the animals. Here's more information about the cougars: 2 of them are 15 years old (Beauty and Beast), and the other two are 7 (Majanna) and 8 old (Taz). For the happiness and best care for the animals, they want to send them there with good intentions. However, CARE is trying to raise $150,000 to accomodate them, and they will probably take so long to do that that it will be in the winter months that the cats will be transported, which could be hard on the older ones. Also, there's some other animals that need new homes: George the elk, who has a full rack and is currently very difficult to move right now. " ...dozens of prairie dogs who, thanks to the monkeypox scare, can't cross state lines and have no place to go as of now " I'm hoping that perhaps some people in this group that may read this may have some good ideas, thoughts, donations, etc. That said, I will include contact information for donations for an enclosure for the Fejervary Children's Zoo cougars in Bridgeport, Texas: CARE, 245 County Road 3422, Bridgeport, TX 76426 Attn: Mountain Lion Rescue Thanks for reading and caring! ~michelle
