Guest guest
Why can't the U.S. have a protest of this magnitude - for ANYTHING??? I swear I am going to the UK next time! A FIVE HOUR MARCH against HLS! A dream vacation! HUNDREDS of protesters and animal rights activists are expected to march through the city today. Police are advising people, especially motorists, to expect some disruption when representatives from Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) take to the streets. The protest will begin at 12.30pm at the Stanley Recreation Park, followed by a march around the city centre, from Church Walk towards Cathedral Square and back to the recreation ground via Brook Street.Protesters will then return to the Stanley Recreation Park before travelling in convoy to the Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) site near Huntingdon, with the event finishing at 5.30pm.Superintendent Tom MacKinnon, who is organising the police operation, said: "We will have a visible presence during the protest."Those planning on visiting Peterborough should expect some disruption during the afternoon."Residents in Alconbury may also notice an increase in traffic as protesters travel to the HLS site, and plans are in place to minimise the effect of this on those who live in and are visiting the area."
