This fall the zoo'ssingle living elephant, Jenny, will move to a new home.Zoo officials announced that Jenny will move to Africam Safari Park, a617 acre forested wildlife park in Mexico. The park is located 80miles southeast of Mexico City, in the State of Puebla.On May 12, KeKe, a 39-year-old elephant at The Dallas Zoo, died from aserious illness. Keke lived at the zoo for nearly five years. Thedeath left Jenny as the lone elephant in the zoo exhibit.After the death of KeKe animal rights groups complained that Jennyshould be moved. I wondered why she was going to Mexico, I thought PAWS involved themselves in all the elephant rehab programmes. I thought perhaps because it would be warmer there but then wondered if it wasn't more of a 'out of sight out of mind' decision. They just want PETA off their backs perhaps.
