Two Horses Euthanzied at Churchill Downs Posted Jun 22nd 2008 5:29PM by Michael David SmithFiled under: Horse Racing Horse racing got another public black eye on Saturday when two horses were given lethal injections after suffering broken legs at Churchill Downs.The Louisville Courier-Journal reports that a horse named Vinstar was euthanized after fracturing bones in both front legs during Saturday's first race. In the fourth race, a horse named Naughty Fu Peg broke the knee of his right foreleg and was put down on the track afterward.The death of Eight Belles, who was put down on the track at Churchill Downs moments after finishing second in the Kentucky Derby, has led to increased scrutiny of the sport. The trainer of Eight Belles recently had another horse fail a drug test, which the trainer claims was the result of a sabotage.
