Guest guest
Here's more BS propaganda from "Responsible Petowners". It's important to contact the City Council to support the spay/neuter, anti-tethering laws as they are going to be screaming and crying about thier "rights". Dallas animal rights group stages protest against dog show Written by Administrator Monday, 02 June 2008 This is long, but do try to read through it. For the short version, please read this:A Dallas "animal rights" group called Animal Connection of Texas will be staging a protest against the Texas Kennel Club dog show on Saturday, July 5. They also protest the circus, selling fur, the March of Dimes (animals used in research) and the usual animal rights issues. ACT's statement - "We can't allow these breeders/killers of shelter dogs to have their show without educating the public about the importance of spay/neuter and that breeders kill shelter dogs' chances for adoption, further perpetuating the pet overpopulation and killing of healthy, adoptable companions." TX-RPOA E-News From Responsible Pet Owners Alliance, the reasonable voice regarding animal issues in Texas . Responsible Pet Owners Alliance is an animal welfare organization, not "animal rights" and, yes, there is a difference. Permission granted to crosspost. The Dallas "Animal Rights" Brigade has launched a full scale attack on the American Kennel Club and Responsible Pet Owners Alliance because we stand inthe way of getting their legislation passed in Texas . In fact, RPOA is the only animal organization in Texas that is NOT "animal rights." RPOA is "animal welfare." John Q PetOwner doesn't have a clue what's going on and would be outraged if he knew. For 17 years, RPOA has exposed their extreme agenda to end all use of animals, including pet ownership, and blocked their efforts until the San Antonio ordinance passed last December after a year long battle. This was our first loss. This was their second attempt in San Antonio as we had a previous round of this very same legislation in all major Texas cities when we first formed in 1991 and defeated it every time. SA city council threw common sense to the wind this time and their animal problems are exacerbated as we warned they would be. More later on this fiasco. The Dallas ordinance clearly confirms the "animal rights" agenda as there would be no more mixed breeds in their city -- no breeding at all unless permission is granted by the Dallas Animal Services director to certain "show breeders" and their property is zoned commercially. No breeder permit would be issued in residentially zoned areas. What more proof do you need? And they claim they don't want to end pet ownership? Forget the high fee for a breeder permit. That isn't the issue. Look at the agenda. Will the "accidental" dog and cat breeders living in South Dallas -- which is where Dallas Animal Services says the impounded animals are coming from -- buy a Breeder Permit? I don't think so and the problems will only continue to grow. Free and low cost spay/neuter services should be heavily promoted in those areas. DAS says these programs are not being utilized at the present time. Read below! This is what you can look forward to at all upcoming dog and cat shows. The American Humane Association Animal Shelter Reporting Study (1991-1992) states: Percentage of purebred dogs in shelters is 7.3% and the percentage of purebred cats in shelters is 0.9%. This has been confirmed by past San Antonio animal control directors and RPOA who has been rescuing purebreds from there since we first organized. Animal rights activists lie and say 25% of animals euthanized are purebreds. This is simply not true and there is no statistical data to confirm this. People involved in AKC performance events are not "killing shelter dogs!" They do very little breeding and are competing almost every weekend in Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Rally Obedience, Tracking, Earthdog, Coonhound, Herding, Lure Coursing, Field and Hunting Trials and Junior Showmanship events. Some people play golf and some people like to compete and work with their dogs. The dogs love it or they wouldn't perform. They always beg for more. Any litters produced usually have a waiting list for puppies for fellow competitors. We'll have a new Dallas Action Alert out Monday so boot up the computer, get your letters written and be ready. The city council will have a briefing June 18th with the vote on June 25th. We'll keep you informed of any changes. This is countdown time!
