Guest guest
Please, if you haven't already, make your voice heard to SUPPORT the spay/neuter and anti-tethering law. The antis are outnumhering us horribly. All contacts to City Council members are below. This article from GreenIsTheNewRed. DALLAS ! Is it ruled by Animal Rights Groups? TX-RPOA E-NewsFrom Responsible Pet Owners Alliance, the reasonable voice regarding animal issues in Texas.Responsible Pet Owners Alliance is an animal welfare organization, not "animal rights" and, yes, there is a difference.Permission granted to crosspost.June 11, 2008Tell Dallas city officials to "Just Say No!" to their proposed animal ordinance revisions and "Enforce existing ordinances!"The message below is from Zandra Alexander, legal counsel for Texas Kennel Club in Dallas. Please forward, call, fax, mail, email to all city officials. RPOA also opposes the Anti-Tethering Section. The bullets are getting shorter as time grows nearer. Keep your letters brief, but keep the subject line big and bold! Add your own personal touches, and keeps those cards and letters coming! Your BARKS and HOWLS will make a difference!!!-------------Opposition to Mandatory Spay Neuter & Pet Limits* The harsh Dallas Animal Ordinances target owners who contain their dogs ontheir own property.* The laws carry stiff penalties for owners who are trying to do the rightthing and keep their dogs on their own property.* There are FINES for:1. Fines for intact dogs. Sec. 7-4.10.2. Fines for no breeders permit. Sec. 7-4.11.3. Fines for tethering. Sec. 7-3.1.4. Fines for violations of space requirements. Sec. 7-4.9.5. Fines for pet limit violations. Sec. 7-4.6.6. Civil penalties of $1000.00 per day for violations. Sec. 7-8.1(h).* All of these FINES are levied at owners who contain their dogs on their own property which makes absolutely NO sense.* These laws punish owners for trying to do the right thing and they target lower income dog owners.* If an owner cannot afford all the fines, they will give up their dog to animal control which will likely euthanize. Then the owner goes and gets another dog. And for what? Trying to do the right thing and contain their dog on their own property.* The problem is LOOSE dogs on the streets of Dallas, NOT contained dogsthat have owners.-------------Mayor Tom LeppertDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5ENDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4054Fax: (214) 670-0646Tom.leppertMayor Pro Tem Dr. Elba GarciaDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5ENDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4052Fax: (214) 670-3409Elba.garciaCouncilmember Pauline MedranoDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FNDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4048Fax: (214) 670-5117Pauline.medranoCouncilmember David NeumannDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FSDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-0776Fax: (214) 670-1833David.neumannDeputy Mayor Pro Tem DwaineCarawayDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5ENDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-0781Fax: (214) 670-3409Dwaine.carawayCouncilmember Vonciel Jones HillDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FNDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-0777Fax: (214) 670-5117Vonciel.hillCouncilmember Steve SalazarDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FSDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4199Fax: (214) 670-5115Steven.salazarCouncilmember Carolyn DavisDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FSDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4689Fax: (214) 670-5115Carolyn.davisCouncilmember Tennell AtkinsDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FSDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4066Fax: (214) 670-5115Tennell.atkinsCouncilmember Sheffield KadaneDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FSDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4069Fax: (214) 670-5115sheffield.kadaneCouncilmember Jerry AllenDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FSDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4068Fax: (214) 670-1843Jerry.allenCouncilmember Linda KoopDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FNDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-7817Fax: (214) 670-5117Debra.brownCouncilmember Ron NatinskyDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FNDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-4067Fax: (214) 670-5117District12Councilmember Mitchell RasanskyDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FNDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-3816Fax: (214) 670-5117Mitchell.rasanskyCouncilmember Angela HuntDallas City Hall1500 Marilla Street, Room 5FNDallas, TX 75201-6390Phone: (214) 670-5415Fax: (214) 670-5117Angela.hunt http://pets.Fortheanimals7/join http://www.myspace.com/fortheanimals7
