TBR will be conducting a burro round-up in the Big Bend Ranch State Park. Volunteers are needed to handle the traps, hike the canyons and help load the burros. No experience necessary, on-site training provided. Must be in good physical condition! There are no emergency services. Please sign up with Rachael Komulainen at rachael to volunteer or if you would like to be added to the project list. All volunteers must agree to abide by The Peaceful Valley Code of Conduct and obey the direction of the Peaceful Valley Staff. Items needed for the round up: Backpackers with their own equipment. Travel Trailers Corral Panels Horse Trailers Sun Shades Water Coolers Plastic Net Fencing All media is encouraged to attend the October Round Up. Contact Mark Meyers for more information. mark PVDR/TBR asks that their supporters remind the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department that the Burro Capture Program will not be completed overnight. The burros have been established in this region for hundreds of years. It will take more than a few weeks to safely and efficiently remove them. Thanks for your continued support of this huge endeavor to save these wild burros!Tehachapi Ranch Work PartyAugust 23, 2008The next large Volunteer work party has been scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Tehachapi ranch. It will be from 9am until 12pm. Minimum age for participants is 12 years old. All Volunteers must fill out a Volunteer Application prior to volunteering. Participants are encouraged to wear old clothing and bring plenty of fluids to drink. To pre-register, contact: rachael Tips for Hot Summer WeatherKeep Your Animals Safe & Healthy!Here are a few quick tips/reminders to keep your animals safe and healthy in the hot summer heat: #1 - always provide access to either shelter or cover to get away from the heat #2 - always provide access to clean drinking water #3 - remember to vaccinate against West Nile in regions where animals are at risk to mosquitoes (and avoid standing/stagnant water areas) #4 - use fly predators, fly masks & /or fly sprays in areas with fly problems #5 - make sure to have an emergency evacuation plan in place in the event of a wildfire, etc. #6 - keep your veterinarian's number close at hand, in case of emergencies.
