State officials say their injuries are not life-threatening.One of the injured hunters, who is from Thetford Center, was treated and released from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, while his companion, who is from Barnard, had to undergo surgery to remove No. 5 birdshot from his head and torso, according to a release from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department. The names of all the hunters, and whether the hunter who mistakenly shot the other two hunters would face criminal charges, was not addressed in the press release and Col. Robert Rooks of the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department couldn't be reached Thursday.Chris Saunders, a hunter education specialist, said he didn't have the names of the hunters. Saunders said it was the first shooting incident affecting turkey hunters since 2006.He said the last fatal turkey hunting accident was in 1987. And he said since turkey hunting resumed in Vermont in 1975, there have been 27 hunting accidents.Saunders said turkey hunters, who are in the woods from dawn to noon for the month of May, should never stalk a turkey, and they should also steer away from wearing red, white and blue, since those colors are also found on the tom turkey. http://pets.Fortheanimals7/join http://www.myspace.com/fortheanimals7
