Texas UpdateWeek NineMark Meyers, PVDR/TBR Executive Director, and Todd Eilers, PVDR Ranch Hand, returned from Texas on Monday afternoon, after spending a little over one week there working to finish the perimeter fencing and other projects at the Miles ranch facility. Meyers is back only momentarily, though, as he will be making the return trip to Texas tomorrow. Once back, he will be receiving more rescued wild burros from the river and one burro from the Austin area. All of the hard work and frequent necessary trips back and forth between California and Texas are taking their toll on equipment. The truck transporting Meyers & Eilers on Monday broke down about an hour short of their destination. PVDR & TBR continue to need your financial support for this operation. Please either go to the website at: www.donkeyrescue.org to make an online donation or mail a check directly to PVDR at: PVDR 23500 Sand Cyn Rd Tehachapi, CA 93561. PVDR Festival 2008May 3, 2008 UpdatePVDR Festival 2008 is only 1.5 weeks away! This event is the big spring fundraiser for PVDR and TBR (Texas Burros Rescue) and all proceeds directly benefit the animals. There will be a silent auction, which includes 30 different gift baskets and individual items valued into the hundreds of dollars!! Also, Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at $1 per ticket. Raffle items include: jewelry, gift certificates, animal products, Mr. Coffee Home Cafe' kit, collectibles, artwork, and other miscellaneous items. In addition, the top three prizes will be drawn at the end of the day (4pm). Winners need not be present to win raffles. Grand Prize: outdoor table & benches (handcrafted/made from cement), value = $1200; 2nd Prize: IPOD + 2 CDs, value = $500; 3rd Prize: 1 Susan Holm painting + Black Angus Restaurant gift card, value = $200+. Again, Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket. If you would like to purchase Raffle tickets, please send a check payable to PVDR (with "raffle tickets" in the memo line) to: PVDR Attn: Rachael/raffles 23500 Sand Cyn Rd. Tehachapi, CA 93561. All monies must be received for raffles by no later than May 1st (which is 1 week from tomorrow). Recipients will be responsible to pay any shipping costs incurred to receive their winning item(s) or they can be picked up in person at the Tehachapi, CA, ranch. Please provide an email address in your correspondence, to receive confirmation that your envelope arrived in time. **If you would like to support this fundraiser but do not want to purchase raffle tickets, you can always send a check to the address above, please put "Attn: Rachael/PVDR Fest 2008" on the outside of the envelope and put "PVDR Fest 2008 donation" on the check memo line. PVDR's goal is to raise $10,000 for PVDR's animals with the fundraiser. All help to reach this goal (or surpass it) is greatly appreciated!Beyond The Ears4th IssueThe 4th issue of PVDR's Quarterly publication titled "Beyond The Ears" is in the final stages and will be available on the website for viewing in the next few days. As previously, this issue is full of animal photos, stories, and the goings-on of Peaceful Valley.
